BREAKING his silence over ongoing issue of appointment of State Congress chief, senior party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday said that he will accept party high command’s decision. He expressed concern over rampant illegal mining in the State. Jyotiraditya Scindia is on a two-day visit to Gwalior. Answering to mediapersons’ queries, Scindia said, “Sonia Ji is our leader and we have discussed this issue. I will accept party high command’s decision.
It is unfortunate that illegal mining is still continuing in the State, while it was the main issue before the Assembly elections. We contested elections and promised people that illegal mining will end.” Politics has heated up on the issue of appointment of PCC chief and all factions of the Congress including former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia are lobbying in their respective factions to get this prestigious appointment.
This issue is making round since many days and after a fortnight, Jyotiraditya Scindia has made this statement silencing all rumourmongers and stating that he will abide by the decision of Congress high command. At present, Kamal Nath holds the reins of the party along with chief ministership. He stated that he spoke to the party high command several times about quitting PCC chief’s post. Hence, Congress high command has to make a decision about PCC President without further delay. Speculations were rife, specially on social media, since many days about Scindia quitting the party for not being given due importance in the Congress State Government. Ministers of the Scindia camp, including Imarti Devi, Pradhyuman Singh Tomar, Umang Singhar, have raised the issue of appointing Scindia as State Congress chief on various platforms.
AICC has recently appointed Jyotiraditya as screening committee head for forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls. According to sources, neither Scindia nor his supporters in the State are satisfied with this appointment, they want that high command should send him in State politics. Minister Imarti Devi who is known as a hardcore supporter of Scindia has openly said, “What will Maharaj do in Maharastra?, party should send him in MP as Congress State Chief”.
