IRCTC seizes 276 sub-standard brand drinking water bottles from LTT Exp

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), on Thursday, seized 276 sub-standard water bottles from pantry car of 12541 Gorakhpur-LTT Superfast Express at Bhopal station. These sub-standard water bottles were being sold to the passengers in train. Officials of IRCTC West Zone inspected the pantry car of train at Bhopal Railway Station and saw sub-standard water bottles instead of Rail Neer. There were 23 boxes of water bottle with tag of Pump-Up, Health Plus and other brand names. Each box contained 12 bottles. IRCTC Divisional General Manager (DGM) Naveen Arora immediately asked to puncture the bottle and throw all water on the track.
 
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ Naveen Arora said, “As pre rules there should be only Rail Neer in this train. We were informed from sources that other brands of water is being sold in this train. We took cognizance over the complaint and seized all bottle. A report of this action has been also sent to the IRCTC New Delhi for further action against the contractor.”
 
He further informed that it is mandatory to sell only ‘Rail Neer’ in all long distance train for the contractors. A heavy penalty will be charged on the contractor who allowed unauthorised brand drinking water bottle in the train. These water bottles were being sold in the train for Rs 15 to 20 to the passengers.
