After continuous follow-up by ‘The Hitavada’ regarding Kriplani Chowk fiasco, Nagpur Metro found a solution. This newspaper had also brought to the notice of Metro, the mess at the other end of Jail Road that meets the road near Ajni railway station. Unfortunately, the authority ignored the problem, making the commuters suffer and face traffic-jam daily at Ajni bridge. Jail Road was carved out so that those moving from East and South Nagpur could take Wardha road and move to various directions with ease. This could have divided traffic from the road at Congress Nagar that was shouldered the pressure single-handedly. Authorities concerned did not realise the real crux of crossing of vehicular movements from various directions. It came out of deep slumber after the mess created at the square.

Commuters are facing problems of getting stuck up near Ajni Bridge Chowk where the other side of the Jail road meets the road near Ajni railway station. Traffic from all directions -- Chuna Bhatti, Jail road, Ajni Railway station -- meet at this junction as six roads meet here in a haphazard manner. ‘The Hitavada’ in its report recently had suggested a solution to this mess by installing traffic signal and deployment of a traffic cop. But authorities concerned continue to ignore the commuters’ sufferings. Now, traffic-jams are a routine near Ajni bridge.

The situation becomes more serious during office hours. Still no step has been taken by Nagpur Metro as it is purely its responsibility. On rare occasions, traffic cops are seen at the junction but they too face horrid time. Last week, on two occasions, at the junction an ambulance got stuck in traffic-jam due to which condition of the patients in both the ambulances became serious. To the fortune of the authorities, no major accident has happened at the spot yet which they must be waiting for.
