Senior office-bearers of Nagrik Upbhokta Margadarshak Manch (NUMM), Varishth Nagrik Association, Pensioners Samaj and Senior Citizen Welfare Association during a meeting on Friday said it is unjustifiable to evade implementation of new Motor Vehicle Act in the State as it has heavy penalty.
They said earlier the State Government gave its nod to the format of new Motor Vehicle Act without raising any objection on it. Likewise, Congress MPs had raised no objection over the bill in the Parliament. Hence it is unwarranted to avoid implementation of the act in the State.

Office bearers of various organisations said Motor Vehicle Act is included in concurrent list mentioned in the Constitution. It has made clear in the acts made on the basis of this concurrent list that the Parliament will decide State Governments’ rights. Therefore, State Government has no right to make new law by abolishing the laws made in the list. Accordingly, the State Government has no alternative except for implementing the new Motor Vehicle Act in Madhya Pradesh.

The senior office bearers have demanded to make effective the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act gradually and organize public awareness campaign so that people could know about the Act. Amongst those present on the occasion were Dr P G Najpandey, Rajat Bhargava, Dr M A Khan, Dr M L V Rao, R S Tiwari, Laxman Singh Rajak, D K Singh, D P Dubey, Subhash Chandra and Rammilan Sharma.
