Six footballers are down with fever ahead of today’s match of National Sub-Junior West Zone Football Tourney

All India Football Federation (AIFF) took serious note of the issue and sought report from Madhya Pradesh Football Association about the incident

It is the height of negligence on the part of Maharashtra State Football Association that its players were sent to participate in National Sub-Junior West Zone Football Tournament in Jabalpur without ensuring medical fitness. Six of the 20 players of Maharashtra team are down with severe fever and were admitted to Jabalpur Hospital. Two of the players were found positive with dengue while two were diagnosed with malaria while remaining two were suffering from viral fever. First match of Maharashtra team against Daman Diu team is scheduled on Sunday at 9 am.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) took serious note of the issue and sought report from Madhya Pradesh Football Association about the incident. Assistant General Secretary of AIFF Anil Kamath talked to Madhya Pradesh Football Association’s Secretary Amit Ranjan Dev and Physician Dr Sudhir Tiwari and sought information about the condition of players and gave necessary directions. He instructed the organising committee to handover the complete report to the Match Commissioner Ravindran (Kerala). MPFA Secretary Amit Ranjan Dev talking to ‘The Hitavada’ informed that that six players of Maharashtra team were down with high fever and they were rushed to Jabalpur Hospital.

Condition of players is reported to be stable and they were discharged after giving primary treatment at the hospital. Organising Committee is providing all necessary facilities to the guest teams as per standard norms specified by the AIFF. Physician and Sports Medicine Expert of MPFA Dr Sudhir Tiwari informed that two of the players were found positive with dengue while two were diagnosed with malaria and two are suffering from viral fever. Players were given treatment and discharged from the hospital. The six players suffering with fever will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. Surprising fact is that Maharashtra Football Association has provided medical fitness certificates of all the players who reached Jabalpur on September 6 afternoon. Some of the players were carrying their medicines from home but their medical certificates declared them fit.
