Miscreant demanded money for not posting her objectionable photo and videos on social networking sites
State Cyber Police Jabalpur Zone arrested a man for blackmailing a girl for posting her vulgar photo and video on social networking sites, on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Rinku alias Rishi Barman (29), son of Mihilal Barman, resident of near Karonda nullah in Adhartal. Superintendent of Police, Cyber Police Jabalpur, Ankit Shukla informed that under the direction of Special Director General of Police, Purushottam Sharma and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Rajesh Gupta, State Cyber Police have started a special campaign against persons involved in cyber crime. During the campaign, a girl lodged written complaint that unidentified person blackmailing her and her family members by sending her vulgar photo and videos which leads to cancel her marriage.
The miscreant demanded money for not posting her objectionable photo and videos on social networking sites. Taking a serious note into the case, State Cyber Police Jabalpur registered a case under Section 509 of the IPC and Section 67(A) of IT Act. Investigating the case, Cyber Police identified the accused as Rinku alias Rishi Barman, a resident of Panagar and succeeded in apprehending him.
In further investigation, police learnt that the appellant was earlier working wit the accused at a private institution when they held friendship and the accused obtained some photographs and video of the appellant. He proposed the girl for marriage but she refused the same. IN order to take revenge of refusing his proposal, he started threatening the girl and her family members. Police have seized the mobile handset and SIM used for cyber crime. Accused was arrested with active working of State Cyber Police team comprised of Inspector, Vipin Tamrakar, Sub Inspector, Shweta Singh, Constables, Ajit Gautam, Constable, Asif and Woman Constable, Avni.
