Huge turnout in Padyatra

IN SUPPORT of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) a grand Padyatra was taken out in the city under the banner of Jabalpur Nagrik Parishad in association with various social, business and community organisations on Thursday. The rally commenced from Samanvay Sewa Kendra having participation of people from different walks of life including saints, religious heads of different communities, men, women and youth with enthusiasm.
 
Vehicles were heading procession playing patriotic songs, people holding banners, placards carrying slogans in favour of CAA. The public raised slogans in support of CAA expressing that CAA is fulfilment of the wishes of our great freedom fighter and leaders of war of freedom including Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and others. Convenors of the March including Convenor Anand Barnard, Dr Kailash Gupta, Dr Pradeep Dubey, S K Muddin along with saints, religious heads, leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party including State President Rakesh Singh, Mayor Dr Swati Godbole, MLA Ashok Rohani and other office-bearers, party workers, representatives of different institutions, social, business and community organisations participated in large numbers.
 
Convenor Anand Barnard informed that mammoth gathering of people and active participation of people belonging to different sections of the society reflects incline of public towards CAA and decision taken by the Union Government. People of different age groups participated with great enthusiasm in support of CAA he said CAA is accepted and supported nationwide. He said a particular section of people and political people are trying to misguide masses about facts of CAA. Awareness about CAA has exposed intentions of people opposing CAA for their political interest.
 
CAA aims to give citizenship to minority people in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and are being harassed in the name of religion. The Government of India has brought Citizen Amendment Act 2019 to provide citizenship to minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan including Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains who live like refugees in India after they faced atrocities in the name of racism and religion since prior to December 31, 2014. They will be given citizenship according to powers given in this Act by the Government of India. The mammoth gathering of supporters rally in support of CAA was about more than two km long. Members were seen carrying tricolour of above one kilometre long on their heads of people attending the grand procession. Procession started from Samanvay Sewa Kendra and passed through Shastri Bridge, Bloom Square, Nagar Nigam Square, Malviya Square to Civic Centre, where mass recitation of Vande Mataram was held.
