With Shrish Deopujari, All India Organising Secretary of Sanskrit Bharati flagged off the Saraswat Yatra on Thursday at Reshimbag Smruti Mandir, the All India Oriental Conference (AIOC), whose the Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) is the host, began.
 
The event was graced by Vice-Chancellor Dr Shrinivasa Varakhedi; President of AIOC Prof Gautam Patel, Dnyanpeeth awardee Sanskrit scholar Prof Satyavrat Shastri, Executive Secretary Prof Saroj Bhate, local Secretary Dr Madhusudan Penna, co-ordinator Dr Kalapini Agasti and others. Participants in vaidic attires carried Ved, Upanishad, Bhagwad Geeta and other granths during the Yatra. The yatra began from Reshimbag Smruti Mandir and passed from Ashok Chowk, Lokanchi Shala and returned. At the onset, Dr Varakhedi distributed certificates to the participating schools and colleges. Shrish Deopujari extended his wishes to the yatra in Sanskrit slogans.
 
Participanting students were in traditional attire and played taal, lezim amid chanting Sanskrit shloks. About 800 students of 15 schools registered their participation. Explaining the motto behind organising Saraswat Yatra, Dr Varakhedi said, “New generation, especially school and college going students, should be aware of the glorious tradition of Sanskrit books and also know about the AIOC.”
