10 BJP Corporators resign as party loses president post in council despite majority

TEN Corporators of BJP has submitted their resignation from the post of corporators from Bemetara Municipal Council. They submitted their resignation letter to District Election officer/District Collector. The BJP could not make its president in the council despite a majority. The corporators who resigned are Lakshmi Lehari from ward 1, Panchu Sahu from ward 2, Virendra Sahu from ward 5, Shatrughan Nishad from ward 6, Sajini Yadav from ward 7, Shadelal from ward 9, Nitu Kotharti from ward 11, Devram Sahu from ward 14 and Ghanshyam Dewangan from ward 15. Two corporators Neelu Rajput from ward 16 and Ghanshyam Tamrakar from ward `18 have not submitted their resignation.
The corporators gave the resignation under oath to the District Election officer stating that some BJP corporators voted for the Congress against the directives and policies of the party. As a result, the reputation of the party and the corporators has maligned. Irked over this situation, they are submitting their resignation, the corporators stated. Former District President Rajendra Sharma said that after the cross voting, the party leaders met and they deliberated on the issue after which a decision was taken that the corporators must resign to safe guard the rights of the people and to keep up the prestige of the party. In the election held for the president of Bemetara Municipal Council, Shakuntala Sahu of the Congress polled 15 votes while BJP candidate Sajani Sahu could get only 6 votes.
 
This way through cross voting of 6 corporators from BJP, congress succeeded in winning the post of president.
Out of 21 seats in Bemetara Municipal Council, BJP has 12 and congress 8 while one seat is with independent candidate. Meanwhile the BJP candidate Panchu sahu had won thepost of vice president in Municipal Council.
