Northerly winds sweeping State temperature nosedives

Northerly winds, coming from Himalayan regions, are sweeping across Madhya Pradesh. This has resulted into drastic fall in mercury level. As maximum temperatures plummeted substantially hence severe cold day was observed in Jabalpur, Indore while Bhopal shivered due to cold day. Bhopal’s maximum temperature settled down at 18.7 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees below normal. Its minimum temperature was 5.5 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees below normal.
Jabalpur’s maximum temperature plummeted to 16.8 degrees Celsius, 8 degrees below normal mark. Its minimum temperature was 8.5 degrees Celsius, 1 degree below normal. Indore also remained in grip of severe cold during day time as its maximum temperature dropped till 19.5 degrees Celsius, 8 degrees below normal. Its minimum temperature was 7.1 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal.
People were literally shivered during day time in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Indore respectively.
Weather Department said that there would be no relief from biting cold at least for next two days. It is after two days that temperatures may go up.
In last twenty four hours, dense fog was witnessed in Rewa, Sagar, Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior and Chambal divisions.
Some places in State experienced cold day and few places observed severe cold day. Minimum temperatures of Indore and Ujjain divisions dropped substantially. At minimum temperature of 2 degrees Celsius, Betul remained the coldest place in State. The forecast of Weather Department says that cold day and severe cold day is likely in some places of Gwalior, Chambal, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Hoshangabad, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol, Jabalpur divisions. Cold and severe cold wave is likely in some parts of Gwalior, Chambal, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Sagar, Jabalpur divisions. Medium to dense fog is likely in few places of Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Sagar divisions and districts including Bhopal, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Shajapur etc. As there is no relief from chilling cold conditions hence people are having a tough time. Normal life has been badly affected as cold has broken many old records.
