Vikram Gwalbansi wins NMC by-poll from Ward 12-D

Vikram Jagadish Gwalbansi, on Friday, was declared as winner of by-election from Ward 12-D. He got elected as corporator on ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The seat had become vacant due to death of Jagadish Gwalbansi, BJP corporator. The by-election was declared gradually. On Thursday, polling was held. The voter turnout in the by-election was merely 38.09 per cent. In all, 22,151 voters exercised their franchise. On Friday, counting of votes was done and the results were declared.
Gwalbansi had taken lead from the very first round in counting of votes. He led in all seven rounds. As per the results, Vikram Gwalbansi polled 13,386 votes. Congress candidate Pankaj Shukla stood second with 3,750 votes. Thus, Gwalbansi won by a margin of 9,636 votes.
The votes polled by other candidates were as follows: Ashok Deorao Dorlikar (Independent) -- 2,617; Praful Deorao Ganvir (BRP-BMS) -- 1,556; Akash Suresh Kawale (AAP) -- 690. As many as 152 voters punched the button of ‘None of The Above’ (NOTA).
Nirbhay Jain, Deputy Municipal Commissioner and Returning Officer, declared Gwalbansi winner. Prakash Warhade, Assistant Commissioner; Sandeep Jadhav, Ruling Party Leader in NMC; Amar Bagde, Chairman of Dharampeth Zone; Pramod Kaurati, former Chairman were present prominently on the occasion. Gwalbansi’s supporters celebrated his win by distributing sweets and greeting him with bouquet.
Speaking on the occasion, Gwalbansi said that he would complete the works started during the tenure of his father. His father, Jagadish Gwalbansi was corporator but died last year. His mother Aruna Gwalbansi also was a corporator earlier. Vikram Gwalbansi was General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He is married and has two sons. He is a Commerce graduate.
