WEATHER Department has issued cold wave warning in Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur divisions. Maximum temperature recorded in Bhopal was 25 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature was 9 degrees Celsius. Wind velocity recorded was 12 kms per hour. In last 24 hours cold wave was witnessed in Rewa, Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, Shivopuri, Narsinghpur, Rajgarh and foggy conditions continued in Umaria, Betul, Seoni and Raisen.
 
Lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Raisen at 3 degrees Celsius. Due to icy wind coming from the North, the State is witnessing chilly weather and biting cold conditions. Temperature in many areas has gone low and it is one of coldest January in last three years. Temperature in Pachmarhi was 3.2 degrees and in Betul 2.8 degrees. Not only this, 22 cities remained in the grip of cold wave throughout the day on Sunday. In more than 13 cities minimum temperature could not cross 5 degree mark. Weather Department officials have forecast cold wave warning with moderate to heavy fog in isolated areas like Rewa, Shahdol and Jabalpur divisions.
 
Cold wave conditions will continue in many parts of the State but further fluctuation is not expected. From January 14 to January 16, the weather could be cloudy and it may drizzle in many areas of the State including Bhopal and severe cold wave conditions will be there from January 18. Icy wind is coming from snowfall in mountainous areas of Kashmir Valley, Himachal, Uttarakhand and as this snow requires air to melt. During this time, when there is air in the snow, it produces latent heat and this cold wind is bringing chilly weather to entire Madhya Pradesh.
 
On Sunday, minimum temperature range increased in many parts of the State. Minimum temperature range increased in Bhopal and Ujjain division from 2. 1 to 4 degrees Celsius. As per Weather Department chances of rain at isolated places over south west Madhya Pradesh and Ujjain divisions. With 26.1 Celsius (+1)recorded on Saturday normal temperature was one degree above the temperature. Minimum temperature recorded was 8 degrees Celsius which is three degrees lower than normal range. Bhopal city witnessed partly cloudy weather throughout the day. Major changes in weather conditions is not expected and northerly winds is likely to affect only some areas in the region in coming weeks. However, as per the Weather Department moderate to light fog is likely to persist in Bhopal, Jabalpur , Hoshangabad divisions but Indore division is expected to have dry weather.
 
Dense fog is likely to be witnessed at Chambal, Tikamgarh, Rewa and Satna divisions in next 48 hours. Meanwhile, temperature in four main cities Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur ranged between 23.1 and 5.3 degrees Celsius. Indore recorded a minimum of 11.8(+2) degrees Celsius and maximum at 27.4(+1) degrees Celsius. Minimum temperature in Gwalior was recorded at 5.3 (-1) degrees Celsius, while maximum remained at 25 (+3) degrees Celsius. In Jabalpur, minimum and maximum temperatures were respectively recorded at 6.9(-4) and 23.1(+2) degrees Celsius. Khajuraho was recorded at minimum 6 (-2) degrees Celsius and maximum at 20 (+2) degrees Celsius. Pachmarhi witnessed maximum 4.8 degrees Celsius which is three degrees below temperature. Light sunshine was witnessed on Sunday gave little respite from cold wave. Intensity of fog was decreased in morning conditions. Chances of shallow fog is likely to be present in isolated places over Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Datia and Chhatarpur.
