The three-day Youth Festival commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was off to a fun and frolicking start at Science College Ground on Sunday. Chief Guest Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Special Guest Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel lighted the lamps at the inauguration of the grand event. The Governor congratulated the Chief Minister and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel, saying competitions of various rural games, folk dance, fine arts, and classical music will polish the rural sports talent and promote the local culture.
 
She admired the State Government for the efforts. Governor Uikey stressed up on the importance of the day as Swami Vivekananda isn’t just an inspiration to India but the entire world. She also appreciated the decision to transform the Dey-Bhawan at Budhapara as a memorial and showered plaudits on the march past based on folk dance before announcing Rs 5,000 for each contingent. Chief Minister Baghel threw light on the deep connection of Chhattisgarh with Swami Vivekananda, informing the kids that Swamiji spent two years of his life in Chhattisgarh and stayed at Dey-Bhawan of Budhapara. Now, they will turn the building into a memorial.
 
In return, trust will be given a land at Malaria-TB Hospital Kalibadi. Swami Atmananda rejuvenated the Vivekananda’s thoughts, ideals and principles and his connection to the Chhattisgarh and established Ramkrishna Paramhansa Ashram in Raipur. Swami Vivekananda and Ramkrishna Mission are also running in Narayanpur and a school on the name of Swami Vivekananda is operating at Kota of Raipur. He called on youths to adopt the principles of Vivekananda and gave a slogan of “Khelbo-Jitbo-Gadhbo Nava Chhattisgarh.” In his speech, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel stated over 7,000 youths will exhibit their talent in Raipur.
 
This includes sports and intelligence-based competitions besides cultural event. Olympic medalist and renowned professional boxer Vijender Singh also exhilarated the youths with his presence. Vijender also congratulated Chief Minister for constitution of Sports Authority in Chhattisgarh. He was also in awe of the recently held Tribal Dance Festival. It’s quite admirable that Chhattisgarh Government has kept tribal people in its priority list. The stage was shared by eminent guests as Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant, Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhediya, Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agrawal, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Tourism and Culture Minister Amarjeet Singh Bhagat, Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Manoj Mandawi, MLA Mohan Markam, MLA Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs Vikas Upadhyay, Kuldeep Junejan,
 
 
Shailesh Pandey, Anita Yogendra Sharma, Chief Secretary RP Mandal, Director General of Police DM Awasthi, Revenue Board Chairman CK Khetan, Mayor Aijaz Dhebar and RMC Speaker Pramod Dubey. Governor Anusuiya Uikey also released a logo for the Sports Festival and felicitated the Divyang children Suman Yadav, Roopvarsha, Vasundhara and Abhinandan. These kids sang the “Mor Raipur Swacch Raipur” song in the programme.
