DRI Nagpur Unit seizes fake currency notes of Rs 18,74,500

BASED on a specific intelligence, officers of Nagpur Regional Unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted a person at Hazrat Tajuddin Baba Durgah, at around 3 pm on January 13, who was carrying fake Indian currency notes equivalent to Rs 13,67,500. The fake Indian currency notes were recovered, seized and sent to Currency Note Press, Nashik for verification purpose.
Further investigation resulted into recovery of more fake Indian currency notes equivalent of Rs 89,000 by Nagpur Regional Unit and Rs 4,18,000 by Indore Zonal Unit on January 15. One person has been arrested and three have been detained by Nagpur Regional Unit. The three accused have been produced before the JMFC Court for PCR the same day. Further investigations are under process. Sources said that the fake currency notes were brought from Bangladesh and circulated in India. In Bangladesh, there are anti-social elements which are engaged in printing fake Indian currency notes.
These anti-social elements are hand in gloves with some people in India who circulate such fake currency notes in the market. Such type of incidents are repeteadly taking place in country including Nagpur too. Nagpur Regional Unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is keeping strict vigilance in the market to nab the anti-social elements who are into the business of circulating fake Indian currency. Earlier also, Nagpur Regional Unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had registered cases of such incidents in Nagpur and some other places in Vidarbha.
