Ambazari police have booked a lawyer, a police officer’s wife, builder and a leader for duping a retired WCL employee to the tune Rs 43 lakh on the pretext of selling a flat. The accused have been identified as Dhananjay Dhondarkar (41), Sonali Dhondarkar, a resident of Amravati Road; Arun Maheshwari Shrivastava, a resident of Pande Layout, Khamla; Jaishree Ashok Bagul, a resident of Uday Nagar; Dinesh Baburao Madavi, Sumita Dinesh Madavi, both residents of Tilak Nagar and Ravindra Balaji Govindwar, a resident of Balaji Nagar. Complainant Pradip Vimal Bose (62), a resident of Tiranga Square had lodged a complaint against the accused persons. He retired from WCL as manager.

According to police, Bose met Arun Shrivastava of Royal Developers in the year 2012 to buy a flat. Shrivastava told him that he would arrange a flat. Bose was introduced to Advocate Dhananjay Dhondarkar there. Dhondarkar also took him to Ravindra Govindwar of Rashi Ventures Developers where he was told about a flat scheme. Relying on their words, Bose paid the money. After some time, they told Bose that the flat scheme had been shelved and they introduced Bose to Dinesh Madavi and Sumitra Madavi of Tilak Nagar. Madavi couple told Bose that they would sell their flats to him.

They sought money from Bose stating that the flat was mortgaged. Bose also paid money to Dhondarkar. From 2012 to 2018, Bose paid Dhondarkar and their friends Rs 42.72 lakh but he did not get the flat. In the meantime, Bose also discovered that the land in which Rashi Developers was scheduled to start the scheme had a different owner. Jayashree is wife of a City Police officer. Bose met Dhondarkar and asked him to return the money or give him a flat. But when he failed to get money, he lodged a complaint with the police. Ambazari police have registered an offence against the accused persons.
