East Coast Railway has issued helpline numbers for providing information on derailment of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)- Bhubaneswar Express near Cuttack.

 

As per information received from East Coast Railway sources the incident took place at about 7:00 hours when train number 12879 LTT-Bhubaneswar Express was passing through Salagaon-Nargundi Station near Cuttack Railway Station in Khurda Division hit rear Guard Van of a goods trains and got derailed.

 

There was no casualty reported, but 11 passengers suffered minor injury, 5 suffered major injury and 8 passengers are given first aid. 8 coaches of LTT-Bhubaneswar Express were affected where 5 coaches got derailed and three coaches had minor displaced from the track due to the accident.

 

The injured passengers were taken to local Hospital and SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack by East Coast Railway by arranging Bus Services. Due to dense fog during that time, rescue operations were greatly affected.

Accident Relief Train (ART) and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) Train with Divisional Officers from Khurda Road immediately rushed to the spot for rescue and restoration work and send the injured passengers to hospitals.

In view of this, the morning trains supposed to pass in the section were diverted via Naraj bypassing Cuttack Railway Station. These trains are 12880 Bhubaneswar-LTT Express, 18426 Durg-Puri Express, 12831 Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar Garib Rath Express, 58132 Puri-Rourkela Passenger and 68413 Talcher-Puri MEMU. Railway sources informed that none of the injured were from South East Central Railway (SECR). There were forty passengers travelling from Raipur out of which one was in 2AC, 17 passengers in 3AC and 22 passengers were travelling in Sleeper coaches.
