NVCC opposes growing busi
Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC), the apex body of 13 lakh traders in Vidarbha, strongly opposed the growing businesses of Amazon and Flipkart in the country saying that the companies the companies are posing big threat to small traders here. The office-bearers and members of the chamber raised slogans against the companies here recently to mark their protest.
 
According to Ashwin Mehadia, President of the chamber, the Government has been attracting foreign direct investment because of which various multinational companies are arriving in the country. “ These companies are practicing predatory pricing and giving deep discount to the customers. It has created distortionary effects by driving out the small traders from the market and therefore many traders have lost their businesses,” he said.
 
Mehadia also said that the entry of foreign direct investment inn the country has led to unemployment. And thus we strongly oppose the move,” he added. He said that the companies adopt unethical and monopolistic business practices and are looking at controlling and dominating not only e-commerce but also the retail trade market of India. Arjundas Ahuja, Vice President of the Chamber, said, “If any company wants to do business in India, it has to follow the FDI policy and laws of the land. However, it seems that the companies are not doing so. On the contraty, they are making attempts to kill the local trade,” he said.
