Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that the vast scope in the field of tourism will be linked with employment. We have been working on a strategy so that the tourism destinations could be transformed into attraction centers at national and international level and people could get employment on large scale. Kamal Nath was inaugurating the 4th Jal Mahotsav at Hanuvantiya tourist destination, situated at Indira Sagar Dam in Khandwa district on Friday. On this occasion, he flagged off the motor boat cruise at Hanvantiya Reservoir and launched 35 construction works at a cost of Rs 72 crore.

The Chief Minister said that keeping in view the entertainment, tourism sector is the most important. He said that there are world-class tourist destinations in our state. Our water and forest wealth is rich. We need to develop this wealth from economic and employment point of view. He said that along with the increase in the income of the citizens, this can also improve their living standards.

 

The Chief Minister further mentioned that other tourist places like Hanuvantiya will also be developed in a planned manner. This will provide employment to a large number of local people, he added. Mentioning the achievements of the State Government of the last one year, Nath said that we have made new paths of progress for the farmers by waiving off their loans. In the second phase, a process to waive off the loans of the farmers with operative accounts has already been started.

 

He further stated that in order to improve the economic condition of the farmers, reasonable prices for the growing agriculture production will be ensured. The State Government is committed to bring improvement in the economic condition of the farmers, he added.

 

New Tourist Circuit: The Minister for Tourism, Surendra Singh Baghel informed that a tourist circuit combining Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Mandu, Mohankheda and Singaji will be developed. He said that the initiative to introduce tourists with tribal culture, traditions and food has been taken in Mandu.

 

Baghel mentioned that religious and tribal tourism is being promoted by the state government. He further informed that a historic work has been done by the Chief Minister Kamal Nath by sanctioning schemes worth Rs 300 crore for Mahakaleshwar-Ujjain and Rs 156 crore for Omkareshwar.

 

The Minister for Public Health and Family Welfare, Tulsiram Silawat expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister for giving approval to the Omkareshwar project. He said that under the Jai Kisan Fasal Rin Maafi Yojana, loan of Rs 128 crore of 46,000 farmers of Khandwa district has been waived off. In the second phase of the scheme, the loan of Rs 66 crore of 9,278 farmers is being waived off.

 

The programme was also addressed by the former Union Minister Arun Yadav and MLA Narayan Patel.

Dedicates and distributes ‘Pehla Qadam’ Tablet: In the Jal Mahotsav, Chief Minister Kamal Nath dedicated and distributed ‘Pehla Qadam’ tablet made for 319 Anganbadis of Khandwa district. Through this tablet, children at Anganbadis will be prepared for digital learning. As many as 11,803 children will be benefitted.

 

Jal Mahotsav to continue for one month: The Jal Mahotsav, which began in Hanuvantiya, will continue for one month. Indira Sagar Dam is Asia’s second largest man-made reservoir. At this site, a large number of natural islands have emerged naturally at the back water of the dam on Narmada river. It starts from Hanuvantiya at a distance of a few kilometres from Mundi. A large number of tourists, local citizens and senior officers were present at the inaugural ceremony of the Jal Mahotsav.
