Injured tigress cured with dot technique at Pench

VETERINARY doctors of Pench National Park treated the injured tigress popularly known as ‘collar wali baghin’ with dot technique that does not require any rescue. The treatment remained successful and the tigress is healthy now. The tigress was injured in a territorial fight with a tiger. The tiger had attacked two cubs and then to protect her cubs the tigress fought with the tiger and drove him off from the area. In this fight, the tigress sustained several injuries. Wildlife Warden U Prakashm claimed to have treated the tigress through dot technique for the first time in State.
Park management was informed about the injured tigress and photographs of her injury were also provided by a tourist. The park management located the tigress with the help of cameras. They tranquillised the tigress through dot projector at the injury. One of the ends of tranquilliser gun includes five to eight inches long cylindrical needle. Required medicine fills up in this cylindrical needle. It also includes air pressure and stabiliser on the back side. The dot was shot on the injury. When medicine was injected into the body dot was separated automatically and the tigress responded well.
The tigress is quite popular in Madhya Pradesh as well as the country as she gave birth to 29 cubs at 15 years of age. She delivered four cubs at a time. The tigress became popular during October 5, 2010, when she gave birth to five cubs. A postal ticket was also released on her name. Dr Akhilesh Mishra, Veterinary Doctor at Pench National Park, informed ‘The Hitavada’ that earlier the park management had planned to rescue the tigress for proper treatment. Later, the officials cancelled the plan as three cubs are dependent on the mother. The tigress was trying to comfort her injury with her tongue by licking them. The officials decided to cure the wounds of tigress with dot technique.
