COLD wave conditions continued in many parts of the State. Sunday morning witnessed light shine but cold breeze was persistent throughout the day. In last 24 hours moderate fog was witnessed in many areas in Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, Rewa, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Bhopal divisions. Cold wave was witnessed at Betul, Bhopal, Rajgarh and Indore divisions. Lowest minimum temperature recorded was close to 4 degrees Celsius at Shivpuri. Weather Department has issued warning of heavy to moderate fog in many areas including Chambal, Sagar, Ujjain, Bhopal and Gwalior.
 
Light fog was witnessed in many areas on Sunday including Rewa, Shahdol and Jabalpur divisions. Maximum temperature recorded in Bhopal was close to 21 degrees Celsius and minimum was 7 degrees Celsius which was four degrees less than normal range. Wind velocity was 12 kms per hour. The entire State continues to be under the grip of cold wave. Winds coming from North is further intensifying the cold wave. On an average there is temperature dip of two to four degrees Celsius in most of the divisions including Bhopal.
 
Maximum temperature in Pachmarhi is coming to 20.8 degrees Celsius which was 2.5 degrees below normal and minimum 6.2 degrees Celsius which was four degrees below normal range. Visibility was reduced to 450 meters at 8 am in Bhopal. Datia was reduced to 50 meters at Tikamgarh and 100 meters at Khajuraho. Some areas remained cloudy but little respite from cold weather as witnessed during afternoon. By evening cold weather increased and due to continuous chilly northern wind the situation is that the temperature of the day has been below normal for the last three weeks. Even on January 5 it was 7 degrees below normal and four days ago, and consistent low temperatures is observed since December 15 .
 
From last week the day temperature was 3 degrees below normal and reached 22.8 degrees. Since then it has remained below normal. The city started getting cold this year even before the first fortnight of December was over. Due to foggy weather in state capital several flights and trains have been rescheduled. Major change in weather conditions are not expected and additional to that the northerly winds is likely to affect only some areas in the region in coming weeks .
 
However as per the weather department moderate fog is likely to continue in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad divisions but Indore division is expected to have dry weather. Dense fog is likely to be witnessed at Chambal, Tikamgarh, Rewa and Satna divisions in next 48 hours. Meanwhile, temperature in four main cities Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur remained between 20.6 and 7 degrees Celsius.
