Combine police team busted a gang involved in ATM card cloning and withdrawing money from bank accounts. Police have arrested one of the seven accused involved in withdrawing cash of Rs 76,000 from two bank accounts through ATM cloning and seized a laptop, a scanner, charger, 32 old ATM cards, two mobile handsets, a Swift Dzire car and cash of Rs 10,000 from him. Police have busted the gang within 24 hours of receiving the complaints of ATM cloning.
 
The arrested has been identified as Abdul Kalam Khan (39), son of Kalamuddin, resident of Tilauri village, Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, while Aarif Khan, Om Prakash Jaiswal, Saiyyed Khan alias Shahjad, Zahid Ali, Wasim Khan and Nasiruddin Khan, residents of different districts in Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh are still at large. Superintendent of Police Amit Singh disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Monday. SP Singh informed that on January 4, a man named Janardan Singh Thakur (61), resident of Mahakaushal Colony, lodged a written complaint that he retired from Vehicle Factory Jabalpur. On August 26, he reached to withdraw money from ATM in Adhartal. He faced trouble in withdrawing money when a boy asked him for help who also failed in withdrawing money in two attempts.
 
Then, he withdrew cash of Rs 15,000 through withdrawal form from PNB branch at VFJ. On August 27, he received messages on mobile number for withdrawing cash of Rs 50,000 in four installments of Rs 20,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 5,000. He reached bank and learnt that unidentified person cloned his ATM card and withdrawn cash in the midnight on August 27 and August 28. Similarly, Adhartal police received another complaint from Vikrant Sharma (37), resident of COD Colony in Suhagi that his father Rajendra Kumar Sharma has account at SBI Adhartal branch.
 
His father went to Indore who called him on December 26 and informed that he received messages of withdrawing cash of Rs 20,000 and Rs 6,000 from his bank account without using his ATM card. He immediately contacted the bank and learnt that unidentified person withdrawn the money from ATM centre situated on Malamata road in Maharashtra. His father further informed that he went to withdraw money at ATM centre in Suhagi, on December 23, where two unidentified men were already present. He charged that the miscreants prepared clone of his ATM card and withdrawn cash of Rs 26,000 from his bank account. Adhartal police registered separate cases under sections 417, 420, 467, 468, 471, 474, 380, 120B and 34 of the IPC and Sections 66C and 66D of IT Act. Investigating the case, police started a search on the basis of CCTC footages of ATM centre and nabbed a suspected man in a swift car and seized electronic devices and old ATM cards in the car. The accused disclosed cloning of ATM and confessed the two incidents in Jabalpur. He disclosed the names of six other accomplices who are still at large. Separate police teams have started rigorous search for other members of the gang in different districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
