“The effort of hampering communal harmony and peace of Jabalpur will never be tolerated. Stone pelting incident in Jabalpur is a blot on its communal harmony. Jabalpur police managed to control the situation but action against police officers mirrors the intentions of the Congress-led Madhya Pradesh Government. In order to charge the anti-national act of people of a community, residents have been united under the banner of Jabalipuram Hindu Mahasabha to prove their strength through Jabalpur Bandh on January 7. Residents are being appealed to support the campaign to suppress their anti-national forces”, informed Amit Khamparia of Jabalipuram Hindu Mahasabha addressing a press conference on Monday.

Addressing the media, Sitaram Sen said that stone pelting in Jabalpur was a drastic incident which hurt religious sentiments and badly hampered communal peace. The administration forced to enforce Section 144 and imposed curfew in the district. Several policemen were critically injured in stone pelting and panic was created due to violent act of persons of a community in the city. Instead of ensuring apprehension of violators, four senior police officers were transferred as punishment for the violence. Members of Hindu Mahasabha informed that Hindu, social and other organisations have been united under the banner of Jabalipuram Hindu Mahasabha to support the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

In order to oppose the violent protest against CAA in the city and unnecessary transfers of police officers, Mahasabha has called Jabalpur Bandh on January 7. Organisations have raised demand to avoid protection of stone pelters and revoking the transfer of police officers for maintaining the morale of Police Department. During the press conference, Sudhir Nayak, Anand Mohan Pathak, Yogesh Agrawal, Atul Jeswani, Vikas Khare and representatives from different organisations were present.
