Bandh against stone pelting on police in the city remained peaceful amidst tight security arrangements on Tuesday. Peaceful demonstration was staged at Ranital Square and motorcycle rally was taken out in support of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). No untoward incident was reported during Jabalpur Bandh. Additional police force was deployed to avoid any kind of agitation during the protest. Superintendent of Police Amit Singh along with other senior officers regularly monitored the situation throughout the day. Jabalpur Bandh was staged on the call of Jabaipuram Hindu Mahasabha under the joint banner of several Hindu, social and business organisations.
 
Most of the market places were closed in support of the demonstration and stone pelting incident in Gohalpur. Market places in Sadar, Ranjhi, Adhartal, Gorakhpur were mostly closed and a large number of businessmen actively participated in the protest against stone pelting and transfer of police officers. Members of dozens of organisations had gathered at Ranital Square where a grand public meeting was organised. Addressing the public meeting, Jabalipuram Hindu Mahasabha’s Amit Khamparia charged the Congress-led Madhya Pradesh Government of vote politics in the name of CAA. He alleged that Chief Minister Kamal Nath for transferring police officers who managed to stop agitated mob from entering the adjoining areas. He demanded action against persons involved in stone pelting and attacking police and revoking transfer orders of police officers.
 
Members of Jabalipuram Hindu Mahasabha submitted a memorandum addressing the President to Collector and raised the demand to dissolve Madhya Pradesh Government for opposing CAA. Earlier, a large number of agitators under the banners of their respective organisations took out motorcycle rallies from their respective areas and reached Ranital Square. Dharma Sena members led by Yogesh Agrawal took out a rally from Sadar, Sampoorna Brahman Manch’s Amit Khamparia led the vehicle rally, Narayani Sena’s Sitaram Sen along with a large number of Hindu activists reached Ranital in form of a rally from Hanumantal, Atul Jeswani led the rally of Hindu Seva Parishad, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s rally was led by Vikas Khare from Footatal, Sushil Barman led the rally of Sudarshan Vahini from Adhartal and motorcycle rally of Kesariya Mahasang led by Vicky Rajput from Vijay Nagar. Demonstrators raised slogans applauding initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to implement CAA and charged the Congress Government for supporting anti-national elements just for political mileage. During the public meeting, District Bar Council President Sudhir Nayak, Bharatiya Janata Party’s former Minister Anchal Sonkar and a large number of women were present.
