Road construction with plastic waste is all set to begin near link road. For the construction a bhoomipujan programme was organised at Link road number 1 in which Mayor Alok Sharma particated. He said that this road will be the first one to be constructed with plastic waste and further roads and locations will be dinetfied to expand this venture. Plastic Bhopal chodo campaign will also be started shortly manily to enhance community participation. On this occasion MIC member Surendra Badika, Kewal Mishra, Additional Commissioner Kamal Solanki etc were present.
 
Mayor Alok Sharma said that in Bhopal daily 800 tonne waste is generated and 120 tone plastic waste in generated. Now with this initiative scientific utilization of plastic waste will be possible. The Bhopal Municipal Corporation and the district administration have decided to repair as well as construct roads in I Bhopal with plastic waste.
 
The idea is to create roads that are durable and also to get rid of potholes. In a meeting related to road construction, this decision to use plastic waste in road construction after the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority (MPRRDA) announced a major initiative to construct roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) by using plastic wastes. In Indore city MPRRDA has constructed around 35 km of roads in 17 districts with plastic waste and has ambitious plans to construct another 1,000 km in the next one year. Mayor Alok Sharma said that Bhopal produces a huge amount of plastic waste and use of plastic waste in construction of roads will help in dealing this and roads will be cost-effective and durable. Additional to that Bhopal Municipal Corporation is also starting e-waste clinic. e-waste clinic at Bhanpur landfill site is all set to start.
 
The issue of e-waste disposal is the main focus in city and scientific strategy for segregation, the e-waste is becoming a major problem of pollution in the entire State. The e-waste management and handling rules 2012 is now implemented effectively and by identifying e-waste collection centers, segregation at source level will be done which cab facilitate in disposal through scientific method. The e-waste clinic is expected to expedite this process of scientific disposal. Awareness workshops for the stake holders have been held earlier at lndore, Bhopal, GwaIior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Satna,Dewas, Mandsaur and Pithampur.
