In a major breakthrough, a combined team of Crime Branch and Tilwara police nabbed five accused and seized three pistols, two country-made revolvers, a revolver and six live cartridges from them. The arrested have been identified as Shekh Asif Khan alias Chuttan (29), son of Shekh Muin, a resident of Jodhpur Padav village in Tilwara, Ankit Lodhi (19), son of Sukhdev, Bablu Maravi (27), son of Chhotelal Maravi, resident of Gautamji Ki Mariha in Garha, Neeraj Lodhi (26), son of Mahesh Singh Lodhi, a resident of Jodhpur village in Tilwara and Ankit Agnihotri (19), son of Gautamdas Agnihotri, a resident of Narmada Nagar, Gohalpur.
 
Superintendent of Police Amit Singh (IPS) disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday. SP Singh informed that police received information about a man named Asif Khan alias Chuttan sighted with a pistol and waiting for a customer near canal culvert in Jodhpur Tola village. Taking prompt action on the information, a combined team of Crime Branch and Tilwara police was constituted under the supervision of Additional SP (South), Dr Sanjeev Uike, Additional SP (Crime), Shivesh Singh Baghel and CSP, Tilwara, Ravi Chouhan.
 
Police team started a search and found the suspected man standing near a culvert. Witnessing the police team, the suspect started running away from the spot. Alert cops managed to catch the miscreant and seized a pistol and a country-made revolver and two live cartridges from him. Similarly, police received information about some more accused involved in illegal trade of firearms. Separate police teams started search and nabbed Ankit Lodhi with a pistol and a live cartridge near forest barrier on canal road while another team arrested Bablu Maravi with a loaded pistol at Sangram Sagar behind Bajnamath Mandir and Neeraj Lodhi was arrested with a loaded revolver at Lamheta turning by-pass and Ankit Agnihotri was arrested with a loaded revolver at Shastri Nagar Chowk.
 
Tilwara police have registered separate cases against the accused under Section 25/27 of Arms Act, while further investigations are underway to identify the source of receiving firearms. Accused were apprehended with active working of police team led by SHO of Tilwara police station, Reena Pandey comprised of ASI, Vinod Dwivedi, Sobran Singh Tomar, Lekhram Nandonia, ASI, Uttam Singh Yadav, Head Constables, Anil Singh Parihar, Beni Prasad Dubey, Constables, Rakesh Tiwari, Virendra Chouhan, Harish, Shashank Singh, Durgesh, Crime Branch’s Head Constable, Mradulesh, Constables, Rajesh, Prem, Akhilesh, Ravisagar and Anoop Singh.
