Anil Deshmukh gets Gondia, Sunil Kedar Wardha district
The much-awaited declaration about new Guardian Ministers for districts in Maharashtra was made by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday. There was no unanimity while deciding the names among the members of Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA). The party having maximum number of elected members from that district in assembly will get the Guardian ministership of that region. Though MVA came up with the formula, it faced certain problems.
For example, Balasaheb Thorat, State President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) refused to become Guardian Minister of Ahmednagar, his home district. There were several other issues too. At some places as per the formula, Ministers of State became Guardian Ministers and that was disliked by Cabinet Ministers of particular region. Now, Thorat is given the responsibility of Kolhapur district and the person who ensured total victory in Zilla Parishad election -- Satej alias Bunty Patil has been made Guardian Minister of Bhandara.
As expected Dr Nitin Raut is given the responsibility of Nagpur as number of Congress members in the region are more than the ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Anil Deshmukh was expected to get Gondia district as it was the demand of Praful Patel. Dr Rajendra Shingne became Guardian Minister of Buldana district. Sunil Kedar will be the new Guardian Minister of Wardha district. Adv Yashomati Thakur-Amravati, Sanjay Rathod has been kept at his hometown Yavatmal.
Bestowing the responsibility of the Guardian ministership of Chandrapur district will bring some smile on the face of Vijay Wadettiwar who became unhappy because of the portfolio he was given. Bachchu Kadu, a firebrand leader has been named as Guardian Minister of Akola. Gadchiroli, Washim and Bhandara will not have any local minister as Guardian. Eknath Shinde to take the charge at Gadchiroli, another Shivsainik Shambhuraje Desai will go to Washim while Bhandara’s account will be handled by Satej alias Bunty Patil. Shinde has the charge of Thane, his constituency also. How far he will be able to give justice to Gadchiroli remains to be seen.
