“Youngsters are obtaining advanced knowledge from different sources around the world but they should never forget their rich ancient culture. All the advanced inventions being carried out in the world exists in India since thousands of years. Indian knowledge vanished amidst adverse circumstances and currently the country relies on a system left behind by the Britishers. Indian education system lacks the rich ancient culture that was based on advanced science and technology. Youngsters are achieving new heights of advancements but they also need to learn from their ancient culture to reinstate status of India as World Guru,” said Governor Lalji Tondon while addressing 10th Convocation Ceremony of Pandit Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Management (IIITDM), on Wednesday. Governor Tondon informed about 13th century’s Konark Temple which is a perfect example of advancement of fashion designing in India in ancient times which is recently introduced around the world. He also gave example of Aryabhatt, Chanakya and Sushruta as their inventions in ancient times are mystery for the world. The Governor congratulated graduates and PhD awardees for their successful achievements and urged them to work to strengthen the nation.
 
Earlier, IIITDM Director Professor Sanjeev Jain welcomed the guests and informed about the activities of the institution. During the convocation ceremony, 14 students were honoured with gold medals, while 22 students were given silver medals. Total 541 students were given Bachelor of Technology, 21 as Bachelor of Design, 137 as Master of Technology, 53 of Master of Design and 44 were given degrees of Master of Philosophy. Batch 2018’s Gogulapati Sreedurga and Sarthak Gupta were given Chairman’s Gold Medal, while Akashdeep Gupta was honoured with Director’s Gold Medal. Batch 2018’s Sarthak Gupta, Diwakar Vaish, Nand Kumar, Nihal Gurjar and Shiv Kumar were given D&M Proficiency Gold Medal for best Cross Disciplinary Project.
 
Batch 2018’s Gogulapati Sreedurga, Sarthak Gupta and Subhadeepta Sahoo were given Academic Performance Proficiency silver medals for outstanding academic performance. Batch 2018’s Debanjan Roy Chowdhury, Alemienla Lemtur and Rohit Kumar were honoured with IIITDM Proficiency Prizes (PG) for best Dissertation Work, while Shreya Pareek, Sarthak Gupta and Akash Singh were given IIITDM Proficiency Prizes (UG) for best project. Batch 2018’s Aman Agarwal and Sai Krishna Edara were given Director’s silver medal for outstanding performance in cultural activities and games and sports. Batch 2019’s Ankita Makker was given Chairman’s gold medal, while Satyendra Pratap Singh was honoured with Director’s gold medal. Batch 2019’s Avinash Kumar, Mohammed Arshad Siddiqui, Gursimar Singh and Harsh Agrawal were given D&M Proficiency Gold Medal for Best Cross Disciplinary Project, while Mohammed Abdul Ahad was given Certificate of Merit. Batch 2019’s Ankita Makker, Megha Moondra and Ashwani Kumar Pal were given Academic Performance Proficiency Silver Medals while Surabhi Malav, Kritarth Shrivastava and Parul Singh were given IIITDM Proficiency Prizes (PG).
 
Mohammed Arshad Siddiqui, Rishi Mishra and Sourabh Chasta were given IIITDM Proficiency Prizes (UG) and Anubhuti Gupta and G Nikhil Krishna Reddy were given Director’s Silver Medal. Speaking on the occasion, IIITDM Chairperson Deepak Ghaisas congratulated graduating students and termed their achievement as an outcome of their dedication and hardwork. He wished students for entering a new era in their lives. He hoped that the knowledge they have acquired will help them in achieving success and fulfil their dreams.
