Because of the act of a lady traffic cop of sticking to mobile too much, all her colleagues have to face the wrath as they all have been prohibited from keeping their cells with them. The on-duty traffic police personnel has to deposit his or her mobile with their respective office and move on to their respective duty points.

The police officers though said it is a routine disciplinary action, the act of a lady constable too much addicted to mobile created some issue when a legal luminary’s vehicle passing by the area where she was on duty. High Court took suomotu cognizance of it and asked the top cop to put the house in order. Though High Court made overall observation regarding poor traffic management, police took action in terms of mobile use.

This has created all the problems as family members, friends of on-duty traffic police can’t contact them even in emergency.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vikram Sali while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ called the action as the routine disciplinary one, it doesn’t seems so.

When asked how the family members of these police would contact them, Sali said, “We have walky talky and the family members can contact the control room from where the message can be given to the cop.”

Sali admitted that there were some complaints regarding the on-duty police personnel watching their mobile phones in the process ignoring the traffic activities on road. The High Court had commented traffic police are either not seen or appeared to be continuously engaged in watching or talking on the mobile phones or talking with each other, ignoring even the jumping of signals and other traffic

rules. High Court during the hearing had also pointed out an example of a lady constable posted right outside High Court who used to be on mobile all the time.

Some police personnel on condition of anonymity said, they are not guilty so why they are being punished for the fault of that lady constable! They and their family members have become helpless as both can’t contact each other due to not having mobiles with them.
