The decision of Government to waive off five months’ vehicle tax is proving insufficient for private bus operators to overcome from deep financial crisis. Corona fear and high prices of fuel are leaving private bus operators high and dry. Now most bus operators are musing to surrender buses and looking for other options of livelihood. As many as 180 private bus owners have applied for ‘K Form’ at RTO, to halt bus operation. Earlier, there were 733 buses being operated from Bhopal out of which 205 buses resumed service about one month back.

Bus owners said they are not even getting fuel price. In such circumstances, it has become difficult to operate buses. Gopal Pegwar, Secretary, MP Bus Operators Association said, “We have decided to surrender the bus as it has become difficult to operate. We have started submitting our K Form at RTO office. We need to submit around Rs 9,000 as advance tax at RTO to stop bus service.”

He said that after filling up the ‘K Form’, bus operator get permission to stop operation of bus with submission of two months advance tax. Services of 60 buses on Dewas, Astha, Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Neemuch routes, 40 buses in Raisen, Sagar, Betul, Jabalpur and Balaghat routes and 50 buses from Ashok Nagar, Guna, Shivpuri and Gwalior routes have likely to discontinue in coming time.
