Two tiger cubs found dead in Bandhavgarh Reserve

Two tiger cubs were found dead in Tala zone of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) on Saturday. Both cubs are about one-month-old. The patrolling team found one unresponsive and a crying cub in Gohadi beat of Tala zone.
 
The cubs were a few meters away from a den where tigress was residing with her three cubs. Pugmark of tigress was also spotted around the cubs which proves her presence. Experts said that to observe the cubs, the tigress was around throughout the night. On Saturday morning, both cubs were found dead. The tigress has also left the area along with third cub. The park Director, Raheem Vincent said, “Patrolling team spotted the cubs on Friday night and experts suggested to observe them throughout night.
 
On Saturday morning, both cubs were dead. Pugmark of tigress has been also spotted.” He further said that situation reveals that tigress was there with the cubs during night. He said that reason for death could not be ascertained yet. Sample has been sent to the laboratory for further testing. Carcass was disposed as per the NTCA guidelines. Sources said that there are scratches on body of a cub while the second cub has no scratches. The cubs belong to second litter of Dhankhor female.
