A WEBINAR on self defence for girls was organised by karate coach Dr Zakir Khan, the other day. Zakir Khan, who is Central India Asian Karate Federation’s Judge and also President of Karate-Do Association of Nagpur District (KAND), conducted the webinar through Zoom meeting platform. The webinar was conducted in association with Dr Shraddha Anilkumar, Principal and Dr Meena Narad, Head of the Department, Physical Education, Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Jaripatka and under the guidance of Dr Syed Mohammed Ali, Principal of Anjuman College of Engineering and Technology.
 
The main aim of webinar was to strengthen girls’ capacity to defend themselves against potential attackers. Khan elaborated the main weapons girls should use while defending themselves. “Palm, elbow, nails, head, teeth, knee, shin, toes, heel (shoe) are the main weapons for girls to save themselves,” said Khan, who is also treasurer of Karate Maharashtra Sports Association. Khan also explained how girls can save themselves by hitting the attacker at weak and sensitive areas like eyes, neck, middle of chest. Girls can also use their nails, keys, pens, books, cell phone, hair brush, umbrella and explained how they can escape from the clutches of the attackers.
 
Khan described various stunts which can help girls in releasing themselves from the clutches of the attackers. He also said that girls should also take karate classes so that they can fight with the attackers and should keep with themselves keys, pens, books, cell phone, hair brush, umbrella, pepper spray which could be used as weapons. A large number of participants attended the webinar. Dr Meena Narad proposed a vote of thanks.
