Cops turns a blind eye as auto-rickshaws violate protocols

Auto-operators across Jabalpur city have failed to take gravity of pandemic due to COVID-19. During the unlock phase, the resumption of plying of autos is likely to create serious trouble for people with sheer violation of preventive steps to contain spread of coronavirus. Auto-rickshaw operators are still continuing overloading of passengers despite restriction imposed by administration.
According to information, overloading of passengers was temporarily stopped during lockdown but subsequent unlock phase has once again emerged as an issue of serious concern. Overloading of passengers remains unchecked by traffic police and other competent authorities from district administration. Allegedly traffic police seems to have given up on the idea to control auto operators who are overloading and violating COVID protocol.
The permission to ply auto rickshaws was stated subjected to passenger restrictions. Maximum number of passengers allowed were four which have now crossed in multiples as at present, auto operators are carrying around a dozen passengers who are forced to stand even on the foot rest and are made to travel in the back portion of vehicle where luggage is supposed to be kept. Traffic cops at Corporation Chowk, Ghamapur, Gorakhpur, Madan Mahal, Adhartal, Ranital, Baldeobag, Deendayal Chowk and many other important locations have proved to be of no use to check the growing menace of auto operators.
