Diyas made by women Self-Help Group are in high demand and being supplied overseas too 
 
DIYAS and vandanvar made from cowdung in the district are in high demand and being supplied overseas. People living miles away from their homeland are receiving diyas and other materials made from cowdung as gifts from their local relatives who feel that by illuminating these diyas they will feel connected to their culture.
 
The decorative materials made by women groups from Bhilai have also got a purchaser from London while countrywide orders have already been received from Lucknow, Mumbai, Akola, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Raipur, Rajnandgaon and Korba. Nidhi Chandrakar from Udaan Nai Disha organisation informed that she has given delivery of vandanvar, decorative diyas, wall-hangings, shubh-laabh signs etc for sending them to London on Monday.
 
She said that Parakhji from Raipur contacted her so that he can send it to the son living at London in order to make him feel attached from his roots and culture after these diyas illuminate his house. It is to be mentioned that apart from the rural belts, these products are also in high demand in the urban areas. The women Self-Help Groups (SHG)s have been imparted training for it and making new innovations, seeds of seasonal vegetables and flowers have been included in it so that it can help in growing plants after use. Around 250 women are making these products which are made available for Rs 2 to Rs 250.
 
Similarly, Rani Lakshmi Bai Banchor from Sangwari SHG stated that she too felt interested in making earnings from her home after learning about various schemes including Narwa, Garwa, Ghurwa, Badi etc adding that the efforts of State Government opened new ways for multi dimensional use of cow dung.
