Health Deptt crackdown on quacks, 42 clinics sealed

Clinic of a quack was sealed by the joint team of administration and Health Department in Bhopal on Monday.

Acting on complaints, a joint team of district administration and Health Department sealed 42 clinics operated by quacks in the State capital on Monday. During an ongoing crackdown on quacks, on instruction of District Collector Avinash Lavania, several medical imposters who were practicing medicine without authorised degrees were identified and their workplaces were sealed.
In the raid it was found that many doctors, with degrees in Homeopathy and Ayurveda, were practicing Allopathy while some were operating clinics even without degrees. Also, permission was not taken by them as per the rules of operation of the shops. The health department’s permission is required to run a doctor’s clinic. No such permission was obtained by these individuals.
Additional Collector Ashish Vashishtha said that more than 42 such clinics were sealed in Bhopal in a joint operation by the Revenue and the Health Department officials. Notices were issued to all the medical imposters to produce relevant documents. On non-submission of required documents a legal action will be taken against them, the Additional Collector added. Instructions were issued to the SDMs and Tehsildars that no negligence in medical treatment of citizens will be tolerated. He also directed Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari to tighten noose around such quacks to keep the citizens safe.
