A fire broke out at 8:30 am on Tuesday at the soya oil mill in Azad Market. As soon as the fire was reported, fire brigade fire-fighters reached the spot and started trying to extinguish the fire. The fire was controlled in about two and a half hours. Due to the high oil content, the fire broke out and more than 40 people living in the building were trapped. Around 150 people were living around there.

They were evacuated. People living in the building were evacuated swiftly by the BMC’s fire brigade team. Fire Officer Rameshwar Neel said that the fire has been controlled with the help of more than 7 fire-fighters and about 50 employees from three fire stations of the city reached the spot. A soya mill was being operated in three-storey building in Azad Market.

The electric meter caught fire and residents also claimed that they heard blast in-between. Besides, construction work was going on in the building, for this green colour net was installed nearby. The fire spread to the top. There was only one exit so the fire brigade found it difficulty to evacuate the people. Fortunately, no causality has been reported.
