State’s Committee asks for suggestions from public to avoid man-animal conflict

People can send their suggestions till October 31
 
 
The 11-member committee formed by the State Government to study the cause of increasing man-animal conflict in Chandrapur district came in action and appealed to the general public to give suggestions and opinions here on Monday. The first meeting of the committee took place on Monday through video conferencing where all members discussed the issue and decided to approach the general public for this matter. The committee also issued an email id ([email protected]) for suggestions from general public and people can send their suggestions till October 31.
 
According the press release issued by Kulraj Singh, Member Secretary of the committee and Deputy Conservator of Forest, Gondia, due to the increasing number of man-animal conflicts, Forest Minister Sanjay Rathod had formed a special 11-members committee to conduct a study to reason behind increasing of man-animal conflicts, draft an action plan to reduce the encounters between wild-animals and human beings in the district.
 
The committee held a video conference and decided to take public suggestions and opinions about mitigation measures to reduce the man-animal conflicts in Chandrapur district, and an action plan to reduce human-tiger conflict. The committee was formed after a meeting of the State Wildlife Board chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on August 7, 2020. During the meeting the issues of conservation and relocation of tigers in Chandrapur district were also discussed.
 
The Chief Minister had instructed to appoint a study group to study the issue and suggest mitigation measures. Accordingly, a 11-member study committee has been set up under the Chairmanship of N R Praveen, Chief Conservator of Forests, Chandrapur. The committee will submit its report to the government by December 31, 2020.
