During the review meet, CM approves ‘Samarpan Abhiyan’, wherein, assistance will be provided to senior citizens
 
 
Asserting that any kind of dereliction in duty by police officers in crime against women will not be tolerated, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to carry continuous review and monitor to put an effective check on crimes against women. Chairing a review meeting of the Home Department on Wednesday, the Chief Minister also asked the DGP to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure and the Police Head Quarters should directly monitor and review all the serious crimes against women.
 
He also directed to constitute Special Investigative Teams in all districts for checking crimes against women. During the meeting, DGP D M Awasthi informed that already directives have been issued to all Superintendents of Police (SPs) through video conferencing meetings to take all necessary steps in their area of jurisdiction to put an effective check on crimes against women. He also informed that in comparison to 2019, crime against women has come down in 2020. The Chief Minister approved the Chhattisgarh Police initiative ‘Samarpan Abhiyan’, wherein, assistance will be provided to senior citizens.
 
DGP Awasthi while giving information about the campaign said that those senior citizens who stay alone, will be included within this campaign. Through the help of community policing necessary assistance, solving problems faced by them and providing essential commodities and services will be provided to senior citizens. Under this campaign, senior citizens can become members by applying in the concerned police station or through Whatsapp or e-mail address issued by PHQ. In the first phase, this campaign will be started in Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur districts. During the review meeting, it was informed that police assistance, assistance to women, fire-brigade, medical emergency and smart city surveillance is being provided under Integrated Emergency Response System Dail-112 in 11 districts.
 
Approximately, 53 lakh calls have been received in the last two years under this Integrated Emergency Response System Dial-112, of which, police assistance was provided to 9.5 lakh calls, emergency medical care has been extended to approximately, 4.5 lakh people, 8,000 people were provided fire-brigade services. Also 6,000 children under distress were saved and 14,000 cases of suicide attempts were checked from committing suicide apart from providing assistance in two lakh fatal road accidents, 72,000 women were provided necessary assistance. Response has been provided within 16 minutes against a SoS call in urban areas while in 28 minutes in rural areas. The meeting was attended by ACS (Home) Subrat Sahoo, Director Public Prosecution Pradeep Gupta, IG Raipur Range Dr Anand Chabda, DIG Sushil Dwivedi and other senior officials.
