As a part of anti-encroachment drive many kiosks, street vendors handcarts placed illegally on side of roads causing congestion were removed by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation. The drive was carried out in Zone number 1. Around eight kiosks were seized and 25 handcarts removed. The anti-encroachment staff of the municipal corporation on Wednesday took action to remove encroachment from roads, footpaths and other public places.
 
The staff removed the encroached shops and pockets near the sports ground at Link Road number one, while seizing 10 stand boards on the road in Mehta Market, Subhash Nagar. Corporation staff removed illegally installed pipes etc. in front of shops in Putlighar. Encroachments of those shops who illegally sold building materials on the road in Indrapuri, Kalpana Nagar area were removed. Hand carts of those who obstruct traffic in front of shops were removed in Indrapuri.
 
Drive was carried out under BMC anti-encroachment cell incharge Nasir Khan. Shopkeepers were also asked to refrain from keeping their materials on display near roads. The road construction activities in this area is bringing good amount of labourers and hawkers and food stalls are placed near roads to cater attention labourers especially tea stalls claims one of the BMC officials.
