A series of events were organised at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal as a part of Mental Health Awareness Week. Activities organised by Department of Psychiatry, included awareness and education programmes for general public as well as for healthcare workers, release of patient information booklet on mental illness and initiation of a new facility ‘Student Wellness Centre’ for students’ mental health support at AIIMS, Bhopal. Director and CEO of AIIMS Bhopal, Dr Sarman Singh lauded efforts made by the department under the guidance of Professor Dr Vijender Singh.
 
He expressed that mental health can significantly compromise quality of life and concerted efforts are needed in this field to spread awareness and improve care. A webinar on ‘Stress and burnout in COVID warriors: Identification and Management” was held for faculty members, residents and nurses at AIIMS Bhopal.
 
There were deliberations on identification of stress and mental health disorders among health care workers and possible support services, especially in the light of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has placed immense stress on them. A mental health awareness programme was held at OPD area health education activities were carried out during this well in the OPD area of AIIMS Bhopal, with a focus on preventive aspects, benefits of yoga, sleep hygiene, healthy use of technology and giving oneself personal time and also information on common symptoms of stress and mental disorders and how to seek help.
