In another success to Raipur Police in campaign against drugs, two persons, including proprietor of a popular cafe, were arrested in connection with illegal business of sedative drugs. Based on investigation’s findings and inputs gathered from people arrested in drug case recently, police on Wednesday arrested two persons identified as proprietor of VIP Road-based Mocha Cafe Harshdeep Singh Juneja (39), a resident of posh Civil Lines locality, and Sambhav Parakh (29), of Gudhiyari, informed Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Lakhan Patle.
 
“During interrogation of previously arrested accused, the name of Harshdeep and Sambhav surfaced. Investigation revealed that Harshdeep provoked people to consume methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) during parties at his restaurant, while Sambhav himself consumed the drug and also incite his friends for the same.
 
The drugs to Harshdeep and Sambhav were supplied by Shreyansh Jhabak, who was arrested by police,” police sources said. Police have booked the duo under relevant Section of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and probing the matter further, informed police sources. It may be recalled that Shreyans Jhabak and Vikas Banchor were arrested by police near polytechnic College, Byron Bazaar along with cocaine worth Rs 1.70 lakh. Thereafter, a joint team of police and Cyber Cell had recently arrested seven peddlers along with recovery of MDMA to the tune of around Rs 15 lakh. During investigation police learnt that the peddlers have produced the drugs from Pune and Goa. Besides, it was also revealed during the investigation that the peddlers were using a different name to stay connected with their links. A woman Nikita Panchal was also arrested in connection with the illegal business.
