Vishram Ramchandra Jamdar, a versatile personality, well-known in education field, industry sector, science community, social faction passed away on Wednesday early morning. He was unwell for quite some time and was hospitalised too. He was 73. He leaves behind wife Prerna, sons Shree and Praful, daughters-in-law Mrunal and Ojas, daughter Deepti and son-in-law Sachin Deshpande, and a host of relatives to mourn his loss. Last rites were performed at Ambazari ghat. An upright Swayamsevak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the true spirit, Jamdar was the Chairman of Board of Governors of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT).
 
He was also handling the responsibility of Patron of Vigyan Bharati. He remained President of Laghu Udyog Bharati for several years. Under his Chairmanship, the Dharampeth Education Society reached a greater height. Apart from serving science, technology, education fields, Jamdar worked as national General Secretary of Sanskar Bharati. Very few people know but he was the first person from the region to donate Rs 1 lakh for Government’s Covid fund, in April only.
 
It shows his sensibility towards society. It was a sheer coincidence that he studied in VNIT erstwhile VRCE, and later on became the Chairman of his alma mater. He did graduation in Metallurgy. Jamdar achieved success as an entrepreneur as he ran three industries -- Kinetic Gears, Heat Treat Well and Garud Yantra Nirmiti -- successfully. He received several awards for his outstanding achievements. Jamdar was associated with late Anantrao Bhide in 1994 in forming Laghu Udyog Bharti at Nagpur. He being national President of Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) has taken the organisation to a greater height. He also represented LUB in International Labour Organisation (ILO) meet at Geneva. Along with Dr P M Padole, Director of VNIT, Jamdar focussed on VNIT’s development personally and then the institute kept growing. He was also Director of Shri Narkesari Prakashan that runs Marathi Daily ‘Tarun Bharat’. In whichever field Jamdar forayed, he achieved immense success. Alls the achievements were possible due to strong support from his wife Prerna who stood by in all his highs and lows.
 
Lost a close friend: Gadkari In his condolence message, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, he lost a close friend in the death of Vishram Jamdar.Gadkari stated that Jamdar had several connections with social and educational institutions. His was the biggest contribution to the growth of VNIT.
 
Shocked: Dr Varakhedi “I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear the news about sudden and sad demise of Shri Vishramji Jamdar. Eminent personality, Shri Jamdarji was a strong supporter and lover of the Sanskrit language. He always stood for the development of Sanskrit and Sanskriti. His support to us was incredible. He was a role model for all those who served the society in different aspects. He had carved a niche in every field Industry, Education, Social Service etc,” in this words Dr Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University condoled.
 
Jamdar’s demise has left a void: Fadnavis Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Devendra Fadnavis said that a permanent vacuum has been created following Jamdar’s demise. He said that he lost a guide and a mentor.
 
Unforgettable personality: Kamat Terming Jamdar as an unforgettable personality, Wasudev Kamat, national president of Sanskar Bharti said, the moments of working with Jamdar will remain there forever. He was a cheerful personality, Kamat added.
 
Major loss to VNIT: Dr Padole “For me he was not only the Chairman of BoG but he was my personal friend, philosopher and guide. His demise is the major loss to the institution like Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology. At institute level we conducted on-line condolence meeting attended by over 300 people,” said Dr P M Padole, Director of VNIT.
