Growing population of pigs amid corona crisis has become a matter of serious concern for citizens. Stray pigs roam around on the city streets and create issue of hygiene.Besides, they also pose a threat of spread of various diseases. It may be noted that the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) is making huge publicity of cleanliness efforts undertaken under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. But in reality, it is ignoring some root causes of uncleanliness. Stray cattle menace is one of the reasons making city unclean. Swine mess with cleanliness arrangements.

They spread to streets, garbage dumps, which are generally seen along roads. They carry slush from drains, nullahs and spread into residential areas and put people’s life in danger. The lethargy of civic body in dealing strictly with pig rearers is proving costly to citizens as heard of pigs roams freely in residential areas and pose threat of spread of diseases.

As pigs are deemed to be carriers of some flu and viruses, they pose great danger of epidemic, especially in present conditions when everybody is scared of dreadful Coronavirus. Despite such danger, the health department of JMC is taking no pains to check roaming of swine in populated areas. It is the high time the civic body must take needed steps and ensure shifting of these pigs outside the city limits.
