In a view to strengthen security of women passengers in trains, Bhopal railway has deployed female police teams named ‘Avanti Bai’ and ‘Ahilya Bai.’

 

The teams will be interacting with the female passengers in all trains passing through station of Bhopal Division and also make them aware towards safety issues. They will also be promoting usage of Railway helpline no 182 for the passengers after facing safety issues.

 

Team Avanti Bai Vahini has been deployed to visit trains in Bina-Bhopal, Bhopal-Itarsi and Itarsi-Bhopal while Ahilya Bai Vahini assigned in Itarsi-Khandwa, Khandwa-Itarsi, Itarsi-Bhopal and Bhopal-Itarsi trains. The team includes one sub inspector, two female constables, two male constable. The team of female cops will be working 24 hours in shifts from October 16 onwards. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Uday Borwanker said, “Female RPF will be available in trains and stations 24 hours to help the women passengers. Now female will be feeling secured while travelling in trains. We are making all efforts towards safety of our passengers.”
