With festival season progressing in all its vigour across the city, robbers have started targetting citizens on city roads. Two chain-snatching incidents were reported in Yashodhara Nagar and Hudkeshwar Police Station areas. In the first case, a man robbed a woman of her gold mangalsutra worth Rs 30,000/- near her house in Yashodhara Nagar Police Station area. According to police, the robbery took place at 10.30 pm when Meera Pradip Wairagade (40), was standing near her house at Plot No 4, Namdev Nagar. The accused approached the woman and inquired her about ‘Kharra’.
 
Before the woman could understand anything, he snatched away her gold mangalsutra and sped away with his accomplice who was waiting for him on a motorcycle. An offence under Sections 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Yashodhara Nagar police. In another case, two miscreants robbed a pedestrian woman of her mangalsutra worth Rs 8,500/- in Adarsh Colony area of Hudkeshwar Police Station.
 
According to police, Sonali Mayur Maske (27), a resident of Plot No. 43, Juni Wasti, Dighori, was walking towards home on Saturday at 11.45 am. Two bike-borne robbers came from behind and snatched away her gold mangalsutra. She raised an alarm for help but the robbers managed to flee the spot. A case under Sections 392 and 34 of IPC was registered by Hudkeshwar Police.
