Senior leaders from Bharatiya Janata Party led by BJP National Vice-President Dr Raman Singh visited Patan in Durg district to support the demonstration initiated by Vijay Baghel, BJP Member of Parliament from Durg, against the prevailing political vendetta initiated by the ruling Congress government against the BJP workers across State. The senior BJP leaders including, BJP National Vice President Dr Raman Singh, MP Ramvichar Netam, former Ministers Brijmohan Agrawal, Prem Prakash Pandey, Narayan Chandel, Naveen Markande, Motilal Sahu and other senior BJP leaders and workers reached Patan in support of MP Vijay Baghel and raised voice against the suppressive act of the ruling Congress government.

Later, Dr Raman Singh and senior BJP leaders convinced the Durg BJP MP to end his fast unto death protest by offering him juice and sweets. Addressing the gathering of BJP workers and general public, the former Chief Minister said that the brave BJP workers and office-bearers are firmly standing on every front against the suppression of the ruling Congress government. He said our party workers and office-bearers are not afraid of the punitive actions and political vendetta of the Congress government. He said the BJP workers shouldn’t forget that the party had stood up to what it is today even against the Emergency and suppressive act of former Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi. He called upon the party workers to be ready and not to get suppressed from the suppressive acts of Congress government.

Dr Singh said that presently, there is mafia rule in State where liquor mafia, sand mafia and coal mafia are ruling the roost. We have to work hard so that in the next Assembly election we become successful in removing this suppressive government. He said Durg MP Vijay Baghel has been elected to Lok Sabha by the people with a huge margin. The government will have to hear the voice of Vijay Baghel, who’s sitting on fast-unto-death. We are urging him to withdraw his fast-unto-death agitation but the party workers will fight till their last breath against these suppressive activities. Senior BJP leaders Ramvichar Netam, Brijmohan Agrawal and Prem Prakash Pandey also spoke on the occasion. They said that this fight is the fight of BJP and not Vijay Baghel alone. If one party worker of BJP is put in jail, then all party workers will get ready to go to jail in protest.

They said the movement against removing Congress has been initiated from the Assembly segment of the Chief Minister and it will spread across State very soon and will become more aggressive with the passing time. They said the entire police administration is engaged in the government’s glory. There were no false cases against anyone during the BJP’s 15-year tenure. It is worth mentioning here that an agitation was carried under the leadership of Durg MP Vijay Baghel for closing the liquor shop at Jamgaon in the area. The police administration has leveled charges of looting liquor and creating obstruction on government work against 11 persons, of which, 7 people had already got anticipatory bail. However, the police arrested three BJP workers and sent them to jail. Opposing the step, Durg MP Vijay Baghel sat on fast-unto-death agitation at Patan demanding unconditional release of BJP workers.
