3 women cadre among 5 Maoists killed in gunbattle with the police
 
 
GADCHIROLI, Five Naxalites were gunned down by C-60 commandos of the Gadchiroli Police around 4 pm on Sunday. The outlaws engaged into a gunbattle with the police party that was on routine patrolling duty in Gyarapatti area of Gadchiroli district when the face-off took place in Kosmi-Kisneli forest. The deceased include three women cadres.
 
As per information given by the Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police (SP) office, the C-60 commandos of the Gadchiroli Police were conducting anti-Naxal operations in the forest area in Dhanora taluka under the guidance of SP Ankit Goyal, Addl SP Manish Kalwaniya and DySP Bhausaheb Dhole. In the in Kosmi-Kisneli forest, the Naxals suddenly opened fire at the police party. In the counter firing from police, five Naxalites were killed, including three women. Looking at the pressure mounting on them, the other outlaws ran away into the thick forest. Identity of the deceased Naxals is yet to be established.
 
Meanwhile, Gadchiroli Police have intensified the anti-Naxal operation in the forest following the incident. Meanwhile, in another incident two Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with the police in Mulugu district of Telangana on Sunday, police said. According to police, two members of the Maoist squad were killed in a gun battle with special police parties that were combing the forest area in Mangapet mandal of that district based on a tip-off. Some weapons have been recovered from the spot, a senior official said.
