ARANG,

LOOKING at the chances of limited demand for the idols of Maa Durga this Navratri festival, Chhattisgarh Murtikar Chitrakar Sangh (CMCS) has demanded free land from State Administration to keep the unsold idols safely. The members of CMCS submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, Sub Divisional Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Janpad Panchayat Raipur stating that the local idol making artists have already made 2,000 idols of different sizes based on the advance orders placed by the samities in Arang Block.

However, after the issue of strict guidelines by the administration, the samities will have limited option to set-up pandals and many among them have started pressurising for refund of advance payment made against the order placed for the idols. With uncertainty in business, the idol making artist having their present workshops on rented land will not be in a position to pay monthly rent for the idols not sold ahead of the Navratri festival.

As such, bringing the tough time ahead to the knowledge of the senior officials, the artists have demanded free land where they can keep the unsold idols and get respite from paying monthly rent for the unsold idols. The delegation that submitted the memorandum consisted of President of CMCS Purendra Dewangan, Vice President Satyanarayan Patel, Secretary Poonam Prajapati, Patron Lokesh Sahu, Advisor Chandraprakash Vishwakarma, Durga Das Tandon, Tezram Yadav, Samkhojan Banjare and other prominent members.
