The Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority has organised a 20-hour online community mediation programme for as many as eight districts. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Justice Sanjay Yadav, Executive Chairman, MPSLSA. The online mediation programme was conducted for the districts including Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Dindori, Damoh, Chhindwada, Seoni, Sagar and Khargon. It was organised for Jain community from September 23 to October 1. Giribala Singh, Member Secretary, MPSLSA and Rajiv Karmhe, Registrar MPSLSA administered training to the participants. Speaking on the occasion they said it is a very important step towards encouraging access to mediation. Mediation is an important alternate dispute resolution mechanism.
 
Earlier confined to the offices of the Legal Services Institutions it will now be accessible at the level of the community through volunteers trained to resolve dispute within the society and thereby settle the conflicts at grass root level. Singh said the topics of the programme include psychology of conflict, negotiation, bargaining, overcoming impasse and drafting of agreements etc. She said the confidentiality of the mediation process offers avoidance of hostility, restoration of trust between people and with procedural flexibility offers parties to arrive at win-win formula.
 
She said the Community Mediation Programm would be implemented in each district by the District Legal Service Authority while the MP State Legal Services Authority will provide requisite trainers to impart training to community mediation volunteers.
