Aditya Tata Cars launched the Nexon EV - India’s very own electric SUV on Monday in a glittering ceremony at its Dhantoli showroom. The unveiling of Nexon Electric Vehicle (EV) was done at the hands of V S Sirpurkar, Justice Supreme Court (Retd). The company officials, dignitaries from various fields includsing insurance companies, finance companies, financiers and exchangers also attended the ceremony. Tata Motors is among the first to develop electric vehicles in India. This SUV is 100% environment friendly as it has zero emissions.
The electric Nexon EV is powered by the cutting-edge Ziptron technology - an efficient high voltage system that boosts zippy performance, has long-range, fast charging capability, an extended battery life and class leading safety features. The vehicle comes with a 7-inch Harman infotainment system offering top-notch connectivity and unmatched acoustics. Nexon EV is equipped with a powerful and high-efficiency 129 PS permanent-magnet AC motor powered by a high capacity 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The motor produces 245 Nm of instant torque from a standstill, enabling Nexon EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 9.9 seconds.
This vehicle promises driving range of 312 KM (as per ARAI certification) single charge with zero emissions. When plugged into a Fast DC Charger, the Nexon EV will replenish 80% battery capacity within 60 minutes. In addition, the Nexon EV can be charged from any 15 amp plug point. Looking at the features, Tata Nexon EV is a real value for money and cheapest in its segment vis. A. vis. Competition. Nexon EV is available in three variants – XZ+ LUX with ex-showroom price of Rs 16,25,000, XZ+ with an ex-showroom price of Rs 15,25,000 (both in 2 tone) and XM with an ex-showroom price of Rs13,99,000 (in single tone). The car will additionally come with a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 kms (whichever is earlier) on battery & motor. The Government is offering various benefits to promote electric vehicles.
A subsidy amount of Rs 1,00,000 which will come directly into customer’s account. In addition, RTO charges are only Rs 4,750 instead of Rs1,80,000. After the unveiling ceremony, Dr Jain, Director of Aditya Tata Cars spoke about the importance of preserving the environment and how electric cars can help the cause, and about how they are more economic than regular cars in the long run.
