Women vulnerable to crime in State, claims Kancharlawar

Women activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged Aakrosh agitation the other day to condemn the rising incidents of crimes against women in Maharashtra. Hundreds of women led by Mayor Rakhi Kancharlawar, Zilla Parishad President Sandhya Gurnule, State BJP Vice-President Vanita Kandade and City President Dr Mangesh Gulwade led the agitation at District Collectorate. Kancharlawar said that the Government was in deep slumber even as women and girls were being harassed in broad daylight in the State. Women are vulnerable in the State, she said.
 
She emphasised on implementation of laws regarding atrocities against women strictly in the State. She also threatened to further intensify the agitation if the demands are not met. The agitation was staged under the joint auspices of BJP city unit and BJP women’s wing against the Mahavikas Aghadi Government for failing to stop atrocities against women.
 
A symbolic effigy of the State Government was also burnt. Vanita Kanade, Sandhya Gurnule, Dr Mangesh Gulwade, Deputy Mayor Rahul Pavade, Vishal Nimbalkar, Pramod Kadu, Rajendra Gandhi, Subhash Kasangottuwar, Brijbhushan Pajare, Prashant Vighneshwar were the present during the agitation. Also, Vanita Kanade, Sandhya Gurnule and Dr Gulwade strongly criticized the Government in their speeches. Savita Kamble conducted the proceedings while Maya Mandade proposed a vote of thanks.
 
Later, a delegation of BJP office- bearers submitted a statement with the District Collector. Chandrakala Soyam, Jyoti Gedam, Sangita Khandekar, Kalpana Bagulkar Chabu Vairagade, Sheetal Atram, Vanita Dukare, Sheetal Gurnule, Maya Uike, Sheela Chavan, Sheetal Kulmethe, Pushpa Urade and other women office-bearers were present.
